We love creating handprint and footprint art and Christmas is the perfect excuse for doing a few extra crafts. For babies and younger toddlers handprint and footprint crafts are mainly made by adults, but older children could try adding the details themselves.
These reindeer footprints were made using Daisy's footprints when she was 3 months old and every time I see them on the Christmas tree I love remembering how tiny her feet once were.

Reindeer Footprint Salt Dough Ornament
These reindeer footprint salt dough ornaments were really easy to make using our easy salt dough recipe. We mixed a bit of cinnamon into our salt dough mixture for colour before we began making our reindeer footprints, but you could paint your reindeer footprint craft once it has dried out instead if you prefer.

Once we had made our salt dough footprints we cut them out with a knife, added a paper clip hook, dried them out and sealed them with mod podge. We then glued on gold pipe cleaner antlers, googly eyes and a red pom pom nose to complete these cute reindeer ornaments.

I think that you will agree that this reindeer footprint craft is super cute! You can make these salt dough ornaments using babies or toddlers feet, but tiny baby feet are definitely what makes this craft adorable.
Daisy was 3 months old when we made this reindeer craft and I treasure her tiny reindeer salt dough ornament. Harry was 3 and his salt dough ornaments are a bit too big and heavy to hang!
Thanks for the awesome guest post! I'm loving your whole salt dough series:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Amanda. :-)
ReplyDeleteFabulous projects. Thank you for the ideas - looking forward to trying with my grandsons. Can I make salt dough in advance? How long would it keep?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't make it too much in advance as it does dry out quite quickly. Have fun x
