See lots more bug themed crafts and activities on our bug and butterfly themed activity calendar.
There are so many fun bug and butterfly crafts and activities to try! Crafts based around butterflies are especially inviting as they are so pretty and colourful. If you want to have a go at a few more butterfly crafts we loved making our coffee filter butterflies. The technique we used was a lot of fun and they looked great when they were finished. Our rainbow footprint butterflies look beautiful too due to all the bright colours used.
Why not read a few butterfly books from our bug and butterfly booklist after making this cute butterfly handprint craft?

Handprint Butterfly Craft
The best part of this butterfly craft was definitely covering our piece of card with handprints and painting the cardboard tube. Daisy (aged 2) choose to use pink and purple for her butterfly and she loved getting covered in the paint. She even used her hands to paint the toilet roll tube.
Once the handprints had dried I cut four of them out.
I overlapped the palms of each of the handprints to make the shape of a butterflies wings. I put a split pin through the centre of the handprints and toilet roll to keep them together.
You could staple the wings on, but we loved the idea of being able to have moveable wings.
We added googly eyes, a bent pipe cleaner as antennae and a little smile.
Then our butterfly was complete and ready to take flight in the garden.
