- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- red food dye
- red jolly rancher candies, crushed
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degree C).
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, sugar and salt until combined.
- Add egg, milk and vanilla.
- Add flour and baking powder. Stir until dry ingredients are fully combined.
- Colour the dough with red food dye.
- Lightly flour your kitchen counter and roll the dough out to a ⅛ of an inch. Use a large heart cookie cutter that has been dipped into flour to cut out the cookies.
- Place the cookies onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Dip a smaller heart cookie cutter into flour and cut a heart from the centre of the large cookie heart. Remove the extra dough.
- Fill center of heart with red crushed candy.
- Bake cookies at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 7 to 8 minutes.
- Allow cookies to cool completely before removing them from the cookie sheet or you will break the candy centre.
