See lots more bug themed crafts and activities on our bug and butterfly themed activity calendar.
This bumble bee craft is so easy to make using just a few craft supplies and you can't deny that is is totally adorable. I love the contrast of the bumble bees black stripes against the yellow footprint and the addition of lots of little flowers. We have made a few footprint bugs over the years including a footprint butterfly and a footprint ladybird.
Can your child buzz like a bee? Get them ready for this craft by watching a video clip of a bee buzzing around and ask them if they can buzz like a bee. They might like to try out a few other bug movements too using our bug action cards.
You can learn more about bumble bees and other bugs by reading a few of the books from our bug book list. If after you have completed your bumble bee craft your child is interested in doing some activities based around other bugs they might enjoy colouring in our free bug colouring pages.

Bumble Bee Footprint
This bumble bee craft would make a cute keepsake. Take a look at our DIY keepsake collection for more ideas.
Start by making some yellow footprints on white card. Little children will love this part of the activity. They will squeal with delight as they feel paint oozing between their little toes (well Daisy aged 3 does!). We always make loads of footprint because it's so much fun! We then choose our favourite footprints to make crafts from.
Once the footprints have dried cut them out. I always like to leave a small white border around the edge of the footprints. Cut some tear drop shapes out from the off cuts of white card. These will be used for the bumble bee wings. I would recommend cutting out a variety of sized wings so your child can choose the number and size of wings which they would like on their bumble bee.
Encourage your child to look at some pictures of bumble bees and think about how many wings a bee has and where they are on it's body.
Once your footprint bumble bee is complete add some flowers. We glued on a variety of craft flowers. Some of them were made from paper, some were foam stickers and some were little flower sequins. Daisy (aged 3) loved designing her garden for her bumble bee.
Here is Daisy's completed footprint bumble bee! I love it and she is really proud of herself.

We hope that you have fun making your footprint bumble bee. What other footprint bugs could you make?
