Start by painting your cardboard tube orange. Toddlers and preschoolers will love doing this step independently.
Cut out arms and a head shape from cardstock. We used the card from an old cereal box. Paint the arms and head the same orange colour as the cardboard tube. Once the paint has dried add googly eyes and a mouth on your squirrels head
Glue the arms and head onto the squirrels cardboard tube body. For the tail curl up a fluffy pipe cleaner and attach it by making a small hole in the cardboard tube to push the pipe cleaner through.
A nice added touch is to glue a real acorn in your squirrels hands.
If you push a little tissue paper into the bottom of the cardboard tubes you can store acorns inside the squirrels.
