  • Shapes cut out of black paper

How to experiment with colour mixing and make paper plate pumpkins

To make the orange for the pumpkins Harry used his hands to mix some red and yellow paint together on a paper plate.  This was definitely the best part of making the pumpkins.  He thought it was fascinating watching the colours mix together to make orange. Harry, the table and the kitchen ended up covered in paint, but that was half the fun!

Once the paint had dried Harry used some shapes that I had cut out of black paper to make his SPOOOOKY face. The green rectangles were meant to be for the pumpkin stems but Harry decided to use them as eyes instead!

Paper plate pumpkins are simple enough for toddlers to make. This Halloween craft gets kids involved in colour mixing too!

We hope that you have fun creating your own paper plate pumpkin craft.

  1. Wow! What a fab post! Jam packed full of great Halloween ideas! Your pumpkins were fantastic, the cakes looked seriously yummy and the painting - serious clean up operation but what fun your little one had there!
