After making a collection of Autumn leaves we had fun hiding toy dinosaurs and talking about how they were camouflaged in the leaves. Toddlers and preschoolers will love this simple hands-on learning activity.
If your little one loves dinosaurs they are sure to like our dinosaur swamp, dinosaurs small world with cloud dough, dinosaur art project and dinosaur fossils.
Camouflaged Dinosaur Activity
We filled a tray with Autumn leaves and I started to hide Harry's dinosaurs amongst them. He asked if he could help hide them and we talked about which dinosaurs we thought would be the hardest to see. I introduced Harry to the work 'camouflaged'.
As Harry searched through the leaves hunting for the dinosaurs he loved using his new word 'camouflaged' and kept telling me whether he thought each dinosaur was well camouflaged or not.
Harry found all the dinosaurs (making lots of mess as always) and we sorted the dinosaurs onto leaves according to colour.
We decided that the yellow dinosaurs on the yellow leaves were camouflaged the best.
