We love salt dough crafts and these thumbprint character magnets are no exception. They make great little mothers day or valentines day gifts. Each of these salt dough magnets have a thumbprint character and the message 'THUMBbody loves you' written across them.

- Salt dough
- a cutter in your chosen shape
- red acrylic paint (UK link /US link)
- fine black sharpie (UK link / US link)
- Sealer/varnish (UK link / US link)
- Small magnets (UK link /US link)
How to make thumbprint magnets:
We mixed up some salt dough using this simple recipe and then used a biscuit cutter to cut out our magnet shapes.
I helped Harry put his thumb into red acrylic paint and then push it into the salt dough.
We put the salt dough in the oven at a low temperature (150 degrees) for a couple of hours to dry out. Alternatively you could leave it to dry in a warm room for a couple of days.
Once the shapes were dry I varnished them. I used Mod Podge all
in one sealer glue and finish (UK link / US link).
I then had a smooth surface to write on. I used a fine black sharpie to add a face and arms and legs to the thumbprint and wrote the message 'THUMB body loves you'.
I added a small magnet (UK link /US link) to the back and the salt dough magnets were ready for putting on the fridge.
These magnets would make great gifts for mothers day or valentines day or just because you love somebody!
