I was challenged by Turtle Mat to create a Christmas wreath and they kindly sent us a few supplies to get us started. We love our handprint crafts so this handprint wreath was an easy choice.
To make a simple handprint wreath you will need:
- Wire wreath frame
- Green card (we used 2 different shades of green)
- Red paint
- Glue
- A tag and ribbon to add a poem.
How to make a handprint christmas wreath
I drew around the children's hands onto card to make a template. Then I used the template to draw and cut enough handprints to make a wreath. Harry's (age 4) hands were cut out of dark green card and Daisy's (age 16 months) hands were cut out of light green card. I lay the hands onto the wire wreath frame and moved them about until I was happy with the layout. I then glued them down.
Once the glue had dried the kids painted red berries using their finger and thumb prints.
I tied a tag to our wreath with the poem
My hand made the wreath,
My thumb made the berry,
I hope that you have a Christmas that's merry!
Our wreath is now hanging on our door making us feel very Christmassy.
