'Messy Me' recently asked me to review one of their oilcloth messy mats. I have two very messy little monsters so I couldn't wait to get my hands on one.
The messy mats are made from hard wearing wipeable oilcloth (which is definitely important with a 1 and 4 year old!) These mats are designed to be put under a highchair to catch any mess and protect the floor, but they work brilliantly as tablecloths, playmats or picnic mats.
'Messy Me' believe "Babies and children are born to be messy! Most children love mess and giving them opportunities to be messy is an important part of childhood" and I couldn't agree with this more. With this in mind they created "a range of products which are not only practical, but complement and blend with kitchen decor."
The messy mats are available in a few different designs. We chose to be sent a 'dusty rose' mat which is a good size at 90cm x 120cm. We use our mat on our kitchen table for crafts and activities and on occasions on the floor during sensory activities.
The messy mat is wipeable and can occasionally be machine washed. After our activities we simply wipe the mat clean and store it away ready for next time. Some darker stains are hard to get out, but considering we use our mat for painting, glueing and modelling I think it has held up well. We love being able to have as much messy fun as we like without worrying about the mess we are creating.
These mats are perfect for any parent looking to enjoy meal times or craft activities without worrying about the mess! Take a look at the Messy Me collection
