Babies, toddlers and preschoolers can safely play with this edible farmyard small world. There is no worry about them putting things in their mouth as everything except the figures are edible. Kids will love the sensory aspect to this play and using a tuff tray keeps all the mess contained.
Add farm animal story stones to your farmyard.
These pictures were taken last year when Daisy was only 10 months old and Harry was 3 years old. Daisy explored everything using her mouth but desperately wanted to join in with Harry's play, so this edible activity was perfect.

How to make a farmyard small world
The farmyard was really simple to set up. I placed a tray inside our large tuff tray and started by building walls with weetabix. Once I had made four areas using the weetabix I filled each with a different cereal. Then I added a few of our farmyard characters and some plastic trees.
Harry and Daisy couldn't wait to explore their new farmyard. Harry loves imaginative play and started making the animals talk and take on different roles. Daisy explored the texture of the different cereals and animals using her hands and mouth. It was lovely to see the children playing nicely alongside each other.
After acting out lots of different scenarios with the characters Harry introduced a stomping cow to his play to destroy the farmyard. He then decided he was a giant and enjoyed standing on the cereal himself!
Daisy loved being able to join in with this activity and best of all she enjoyed getting inside the tuff tray to taste the farmyard!
If you wanted to make a really messy edible farmyard some melted chocolate 'mud' could be a fun addition.
