You will need:
- A fish shaped ice tray (ours was from ikea)
- Food colouring
- A tray/ container
- A small net
How to make ice fish
Simply fill your fish shaped ice tray with water and add a drop of food colouring into each of the fish shapes. We use red and yellow colouring. The colours mixed together a little as I carried the tray across to the freezer. Leave the tray in the freezer for a few hours and then tip the fish out onto a tray or container. We added a little bit of water to the tray so the fish could swim about.
Playing with ice fish
Daisy was fascinated with her fish. She told me they were cold by saying 'brrrrrr' and then helped her fish swim across the tray.
As Daisy moved the fish we noticed the colours from the fish mixing together.
Daisy got her little fishing net and tried to catch some of the fish before they started to melt away.
She played with the fish until the very last bit had melted away and then she said 'gone'! This activity didn't last too long but Daisy was really engaged and loved playing with the fish.
