Healthy Jack O Lantern Halloween Snack
We started todays activity by singing 'Five Little Pumpkins'. Five Little Pumpkins is a lovely story/ song to introduce toddlers and preschoolers to the idea of Halloween. After singing the song a few times we had a go at designing our own little pumpkins using oranges.
We used a black sharpie to draw different jack o lantern faces onto the oranges. We had fun talking about which faces were scary, sad, happy etc.
I had set this activity up for Daisy (aged 3) but Harry (aged 6) wanted to get involved too creating his own spooky jack o lantern. I only had 5 oranges ready for this activity but the children would have happily designed a whole bag of them.
The best bit about this activity was that it made a very healthy and yummy snack for us to eat after our hard work.
'Five Little Pumpkins' is this weeks book for the virtual book club. We had lots of fun with this story/ song and love the look of all the other pumpkin activities shared below (coming soon). Follow the virtual book club facebook page for weekly book activities.
