Children naturally like to move so what could be better than bringing bug movements into their play. Toddlers and preschoolers can learn the names and movements of a variety of bugs whilst they work on developing their physical and co-ordination skills. See how imaginative they can be as they think of different ways to travel and move!

Older children may be a little more creative as they try to recreate the movements on the cards. You could add music or even put the movements together into a dance! Why not see if you can find some of the bugs on the cards and watch them to see how they move. You could even use our bug hunt printable to tick of all the bugs you spot.

Download and print out this fun set of bug action cards. 

There are 10 different bug action cards in total as well as a question card asking which is your favourite bug? 

These action cards are available as A4 posters and A6 cards (4 to a page). We would recommend laminating the cards.

Once you have the cards call out the actions and try out the different movements. Can you flutter, buzz, scuttle and crawl around the room? Which bug movement is your favourite?
