Get outside this summer and give paint rolling on a slide a go! It is a super fun outdoor art idea for kids that they will totally love! Yes slide painting can get a little messy, but that just adds to the fun. Toddlers, preschoolers and older kids will all love this fun and easy painting idea and all the mess is kept outdoors!
As we head towards summer and the sunshine arrives we love spending time outdoors as a family. Whilst the children are often happy playing their own games in the garden sometimes they like to have fun activities set up for them. We love trying out different outdoor art ideas and paint rolling was definitely a fun painting project!
We have tried so many fun outdoor art ideas over the years. Water pistol painting was really popular with the kids, especially with Harry as he couldn't believe his luck that he was able to squirt paint around the garden. Painting with nature paintbrushes was lots of fun too and it produced some beautiful abstract art.
Today we are sharing a really fun painting idea that you can easily set up in your garden. All you need is a slide, bouncy balls, paint and paper, oh and a couple of excited children!

Setting up this paint rolling activity is really easy and only takes a few minutes. Cut a piece of paper the length of your slide from the paper roll and tape it in place.
Squirt paint in your chosen colours into small containers, we decided to use the 3 primary colours red, blue and yellow.
Place the 3 containers full of paint at the top of the slide and add some bouncy balls to each container.
Then the fun begins! The children will love rolling balls covered in paint down the slide.
When you run out of bouncy balls climb down and collect them all up from the bottom of the slide ready to go again.
If you get covered in paint that just adds to the fun!
This fun outdoor art idea is about having fun with the art process rather than about what the final piece of artwork looks like, but having said that the art created from this outdoor painting activity can look really pretty. You might even want to keep some of the art to use in future craft activities.
