The kids were so excited when we told them that we were going glamping at Crealy Meadows in Devon. The safari plus glamping tents that we stayed in have all the facilities that you need, but they still look like tents so the children feel like they are camping!
Glamping at Crealy Meadows Review - A glamping break in Devon for the whole family to enjoy
Crealy Meadows is attached to Crealy Adventure Park in Devon and offers camping and caravan pitches, themed tents, luxury lodges and glamping. If you stay in a themed tent or a lodge tickets to Crealy Adventure Park are included in your stay. We stayed in a Safari Plus Glamping Tent.
The whole family enjoyed our glamping break at Crealy Meadows. The older kids (Harry aged 6 and Daisy aged 3) loved staying in a 'tent', I loved that we still had real beds, heating and full cooking facilities and we all enjoyed our days out at Crealy Adventure Park.
Taking a young baby on holiday, especially camping, can be tricky, but having a warm tent, full kitchen and plenty of space meant that we had no worries at all taking Oliver (3 months) on holiday.

Safari Plus Glamping Tents
The safari plus glamping tents at Crealy Adventure Park and Resort include full sized real beds (a double bed, bunk bed and a cabin bed), a kitchen/ dining area with a wooden table and a sofa to relax on (that also doubles up as a sofa bed).
We had brought our side by side cot with us for Oliver (3 months) and it fitted perfectly alongside the double bed.
Whilst these safari plus glamping tents and called 'tents' they actually have a full kitchen, real windows, a wooden door that you can lock, electric sockets and heating, all the things that are perfect for someone who likes a few extra luxuries.
The kitchen area has a kettle, toaster, microwave and hob as well as a fridge and all the pots, pans and crockery and glasses that you will need. There is also a small shop on site where you can buy essentials and BBQ supplies.
The only thing not included in the safari glamping tents package is bed linen so you will need to bring your own. The bedrooms can get a little dark at night, so if you have young children that are afraid of the dark bringing an extra torch or lamp is probably a good idea.
Even though the safari tents have all the facilities inside that you could possibly need, from the outside they have a tent like appearance which the kids loved as it made them feel like we were really camping.
There are no toilet facitilies within the tent, which was a little bit of a pain, but totally to be expected with a glamping break away. The kids actually loved getting the torches out each evening to go on a little adventure across to the toilet blocks. There are a couple of family bathrooms within the toilet block which have a shower and bath.
Upon arrival you are given wrist bands to wear so that you have entrance to Crealy Adventure Park for the duration of your stay and you are given information any entertainment that is on offer.
If you visit during a busy period there is organised entertainment in the evenings. We were a day late arriving due to a sickness bug so we missed the Friday night entertainment, but we arrived just in time for story time with Blossom the bear on the Saturday evening followed by a quiz night. This was a really nice start to the holiday.
There was a HUGE down pour (complete with thunder and lightning!) on our first evening, but it just added to the fun! The kids loved running in and out of the rain and we felt snug and cosy inside our tent.
The other evenings were a little quieter, but the kids had a great time playing in the park and having a few games of badminton outside our tent. Harry LOVED this and we even tried to involve Oliver!
The evenings when there was no organised entertainment we made our own fun! The kids loved going out on torch lit adventures after it had got dark and making shadow puppet shows on the tent walls and we enjoying a few relaxing glasses of wine!
Crealy Adventure park
Tickets for Crealy Adventure park were included with our glamping break and the kids couldn't wait to head over to the park.
As far as theme parks go Crealy Adventure Park is on the smaller side with about 60 rides, but this makes it perfect for a family with younger children. Often in larger theme parks you find there are a lot of rides that younger children can't go on, but both Harry (aged 6) and Daisy (aged 3) were able to go on most of the rides at Crealy Adventure Park.
During busy periods the park is fully open, but during quieter days just the inside rides and animal areas are open. We missed being able to make use of the park on the Saturday due to a horrible sickness bug, but the kids loved going on all the rides on the Sunday. I was amazed at how brave Daisy was as she is only 3, but she wanted to go on everything!
The aqua blasters were popular with the kids, but a word of warning, don't go on them unless you want to get SOAKED!
The indoor rides are a bit tamer than the outside rides, but still lots of fun and perfect for younger children.
Daisy loved the animal barn where she had the opportunity to hold a guinea pig and rabbit, groom the donkeys, feed the goats and listen to talks about some of the animals. There is also a bug zone full of creepy crawlies.
There are several soft play areas to choose from and we even managed to get Oliver in for a little play!
Would we recomend glamping at Crealy Meadows?
Yes! We had a lovely few days away and the whole family had fun. It was a nice and relaxed break, everyone was really friendly and the kids had a great time in the adventure park.
The accomodation (the safari plus glamping tents) are perfect for a family with young children and Harry and Daisy loved their little adventure. The other accomodation looked great too, the lodges even include hot tubs!
Just don't forget to take bed linen and a few torches, you will defnitely need the torches for walking across to the toilet block at night. Bringing a BBQ is a good idea too if you don't want to buy a new one at the site shop.
Crealy Meadows Review by Harry (aged 6)
I love Crealy. I absoloutely loved the tent and the double bed. I played badmington outside the tent and it was fun. The rides were good, my favourite ride was the aqua blasters and I loved the soft play area and all the indoor rides.
Crealy Meadows Review by Daisy (aged 3)
I loved the water ride and I liked playing in my hiding place in our tent.
