Mason Jar Gifts – Christmas Cookie Jar for Chocolate Lovers!
Ingredients/Supplies for your Christmas cookie jar:
- 1-quart sized mason jar
- 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1/2 cup white baking chips
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- Printable gift tags (scroll down for free printable)
- Scissors
- Hole punch
- Holiday ribbon or string
- Funnel, optional
Additional ingredients to make the cookies:
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions for your Christmas cookie jar:
STEP 1: Gather up all the ingredients and supplies
Before you get started, gather up all the ingredients and supplies to make your Christmas cookie jar. There are quite a few things needed to create this mason jar gift so having everything to hand will definitely make things much easier!
STEP 2: Layer ingredients into the mason jar
Now that you have your ingredients, it's time to start putting together your Christmas cookie jar! Use a funnel to funnel in the flour. Then place the baking soda, baking powder, and salt into the jar. Next layer in the cocoa, brown sugar, and salt. Then add in the chocolate chips and white baking chips on top.
Take your time adding each of the ingredients needed for the cookie mix into the jar. You want to try and create a layered look. The jar needs to be full to the top so that the ingredients don't move, so do make sure that you use a 1-quart sized mason jar.
STEP 3: Dress up the Christmas cookie jar
Once you've added the ingredients, put the lid on the cookie jar and tighten it. Next, cut out the holiday printable gift tag and punch a hole into the upper corner. Place a ribbon or string through the hole in the tag and tie it around the lid of the jar.
STEP 4: (optionally) Bake the Christmas cookies
If you'd like to enjoy the cookies, preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prepare a cookie sheet. Add all your dry ingredients with the butter, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until creamy. Drop rounded spoonfuls onto a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes. ENJOY!
