Directions to make your Christmas paper plate craft
STEP 1: Gather your supplies
Before you start, I recommend gathering up all your supplies - this just makes it a bit easier when making crafts with young children. Be sure to download and print the template too! Scroll down below to download the free printable Santa & Elf template.
STEP 2: Make the banner
Cut out the template and then fold the banner letters along the dotted line. Arrange them in order and fold them over the yarn, then glue the bottom to secure them into place as shown below.
STEP 3: Make the Santa & Elf figures
Fold the paper plate in half and then trace the template onto the plate - making sure the hat, hands, and feet connect along the fold as shown below.
Cut the figure out of the paper plate, making sure not to cut along the fold. Then, open to reveal Santa & the Elf holding hands! Colour as desired. For toddlers and younger preschoolers you may want to draw Santa's and the Elf's clothes and features ready for them to colour.
STEP 4: Finalize the Christmas paper plate craft
To finish up this Christmas craft, hole punch the hands and tie the yarn at each end to hang the banner as if they were holding it - as shown below. Fold the paper plate in the centre and stand your Christmas characters up.
