Directions to make your Christmas tree craft
STEP 1: Gather up your supplies
Before you get started, gather up your supplies! This Christmas tree craft is relatively easy so it shouldn't be too hard to have all your supplies in front of you. It does make the crafting process easier, though!
STEP 2: Cut the papers
To begin, cut the green paper into strips and trim into a variety of different lengths. This is a great time for your toddler to work on their scissor skills! (Although you definitely still want to help them with this!)
Next, cut a strip of brown paper and glue it to the bottom of the red paper to serve as the trunk of your Christmas tree.
(Note: If you want to turn this Christmas tree craft into a toddler Christmas card, make sure you fold your paper in half to resemble a card before you start creating your paper strip christmas tree.)
STEP 3: Arrange and glue the papers
Once you've done that, help your toddler sort the strips of green paper according to size, and then glue them to the red paper into a Christmas tree shape as you see below. For younger toddlers you may find it easier to have fewer strips for them to sort by size and glue down.
STEP 4: Decorate your Christmas tree craft
Now to decorate! Help your toddler place a yellow star sticker at the top of the tree - this will likely get them super excited! My preschooler is always OVER THE MOON about putting the star on the tree! (and always has to leave this important job until the end!)
Then, glue colourful sequins all over the Christmas tree to act as ornaments.
STEP 5: Write a message
If you have chosen to turn this Christmas tree craft into a toddler Christmas card then help your toddler write a sweet message to a loved one of their choice inside!
