How to make butterfly snack bags
STEP 1: Gather your supplies
Gather up all your supplies for your butterfly snacks! Making your butterfly snack bags will be a breeze if prepared ahead of time.
STEP 2: Prepare the clothespins
To get started, stick a piece of washi tape to the top of each clothespins. To get your toddler or preschooler involved, lay out lots of options and have them pick their favourite! You can even make multiple butterfly snack bags with different designs of tape.
Another fun alternative could be to give the clothespin to your toddler or preschooler for them to paint or colour.

Then, glue some googly eyes to the top of each clothespin.
STEP 3: Prepare the zip-lock bags
Once you've done that, fill the zip-lock bags halfway full of your rainbow cereal. Fold down the top of the bag down horizontally and secure it with some tape at each end.
Divide the cereal equally across each side of the bag, leaving an open space in the middle (this is where you will place your clothespin!). Pinch the centre of the bag together and secure it in place with the clothespin.
STEP 4: Finalize your butterfly snack bags
To finish off the butterfly snack bags, create an antennae for each butterfly by cutting a pipe cleaner in half, folding it in half, and twisting each side around the end of a pencil.
Secure it onto the butterfly snacks with a drop of glue and then draw a little smile with a sharpie.
Your butterfly snack bags are now complete! Why not have fun switching the cereal to other snack ideas. We hope you enjoy making these butterfly snacks with your toddler and preschoolers! Enjoy!
