How to make your bat oil pastel art
STEP 1: Get your supplies ready
Before you get started, gather up all your supplies to make the art process easier. Make sure to download and print out the bat template! If you haven't done so yet, scroll down below for the free template.
STEP 2: Prepare bat template
To get started, grab your template and carefully cut out all the bats and set aside.
STEP 3: Draw the moon
Grab a white piece of construction paper or cardstock and draw a circle for the moon with yellow oil pastels and then trace that circle with orange.
Then, use your fingertips to smudge the colours together.
STEP 4: Add more colours
Next, use blues and greens to create colour around the moon. Put a thick layer of oil pastel on and use your fingertips to blend. (Make sure to blend a lot to get the best results!)
STEP 5: Draw a border
Once you're happy with the result, draw a border around the edges with black oil pastel. Blend the black towards the middle of the paper until you're happy with the result.
STEP 6: Glue the bats
Next, glue the pre cut out bats all over the moon. Play around with spacing them out and only glue them on once you are happy with their positions.
You can also try experimenting with different colours. How spooky would a purple sky be?!
