Turkey crafts are perfect for Thanksgiving or for farm or animal themes. As well as making this adorable shape turkey you might like to have a go at making a colourful paper turkey craft, a paper plate turkey craft (this one is made using a really fun painting technique) or learn colours with our colour match turkey craft.
You could also download and print out our turkey template to make our mix-and-match turkey craft (with photo option!) or get the paints out and make a hand turkey.
You could even make some chocolate covered pretzel turkeys to munch on as you craft!
If you are looking for more shape craft ideas you might like to give our shape bat craft a try or make some 2d shape animal crafts or shape painting with cardboard tubes is always fun.
As always prepare all your supplies before beginning this turkey craft. You will need to print out the shape turkey template available at the bottom of the page. Print and cut out the template.
Invite your toddler or preschooler to choose some coloured craft paper and trace the shapes on your chosen craft papers. Brown body shapes and bright bold colours for the feathers look amazing!
The turkey template available at the bottom of the page includes 3 basic shapes for the turkey body – square, circle and triangle. The other shapes are for the tail feathers, beak and wattle.
Grab the 3 basic shape cutouts and attach a wattle and beak to each one. Add googly eyes above the beak.
The template includes 3 different shapes for the tail feathers. Select tail feathers in your chosen shape and colour and attach the paper cutouts to the back of the paper turkeys.
Complete all 3 shape turkeys. You could give each turkey a mixture of different shape tail feathers or have them all matching. Have fun trying out different combinations.
Once the glue has dried you can add a popsicle stick or a cardboard paper strip on the back of the shape turkeys to use them as puppets or bookmarks.
