How to make your scarecrow craft
STEP 1: Prepare your craft
Before you get started, gather up all the supplies you'll need for these popsicle stick puppets. Crafts such as these are much easier if you get organised beforehand!
STEP 2: Print scarecrow template
Be sure to download and print the scarecrow template if you haven't yet as well. Then, have your preschooler select the colours they'd like for each of the patterns. Trace and cut them out.
The scarecrow template will include scarecrow patterns, crow patterns, a pumpkin, maple leaf, and flowers.
STEP 3: Assemble the scarecrow
Next, grab the cutout pieces for the scarecrow. Glue the shirt shape on the top of the scarecrow's body. Glue the paper overall pattern on the scarecrow's body as shown below.
Then, glue the nose and hair to the scarecrow. Using a black gel pen, draw the eyes and mouth for the scarecrow.
STEP 4: Assemble the crows
Now it's time to assemble the crows! This scarecrow template includes shapes for two crows - one front view and one side view. Glue the wings, googly eyes, and beak to form the crows as shown below.
STEP 4: Assemble remaining props
Glue the flower patterns and then glue the round shapes into the centre. Prepare the maple leaves and pumpkins as shown below.
STEP 5: Finalize the scarecrow craft
To finish up the popsicle stick puppets, glue them to the popsicle sticks as shown below.
Then, glue the paper hate on the top side of the scarecrow. You're finished!
