Directions to make your Christmas tree craft
STEP 1: Gather your supplies
Before you get started, gather up all your supplies. This makes the process so much easier - especially when you have toddlers and preschoolers involved! Make sure you have downloaded and printed the template, which can be found at the bottom of the page.
STEP 2: Prepare the Christmas tree template
To prepare the template, first have your toddler or preschoolers help you select the coloured papers you'd like to use. Then, trace and cut out the shapes from the template onto the desired colours.
The template includes 3 various sized triangles for the tree, 1 star, 2 different sized circle shapes, and 2 different sized square shapes.
STEP 3: Arrange and glue the Christmas tree
Grab the white craft paper (fold it in half if you would like to make a Christmas tree card) and then glue down the the triangles in the shape of a tree. Try to encourage your toddler or preschooler to overlap the triangle shapes as in the image below.
Engage your toddler or preschooler by having them point out or name each shape as they glue them down!
Then, glue the square and rectangular pieces on the bottom of the Christmas tree - these will act as the pot and the trunk of the tree.
STEP 4: Decorate the Christmas tree
Once you've done that, glue the star at the top of the tree as shown below.
To finish up invite your toddler or preschooler to glue on the circle shapes as ornaments. Allow the glue to try and you have a finished Christmas tree craft!
