How to make your farm animal craft
STEP 1: Prepare your craft
Before we get started, set out all your supplies and start preparing the template. If you haven't grabbed the template yet, scroll down below to download and print it off for your personal use.
Have your children select the coloured papers needed for the animals and farm house.
STEP 2: Assemble the farm animals
Let's start with the pig! The pig pattern includes the body, inner ear, and nose. Glue the nose and inner ear shapes onto the body of your pig farm animal.
Then, use a thin black marker to draw on the details of your pig.
Next, let's make the cow farm animal! You'll need the body, mouth, horns, and tail tip shapes. Glue all the small shapes onto the body of the cow.
Use your black marker to draw on the other details such as eyes, mouth, and hooves.
Continue assembling the remaining farm animals with the appropriate shapes and details.
STEP 3: Assemble the barn, sun, and trees
Now it's time to put the barn together using the appropriate shapes! Glue all the shapes together as shown below.
Continue with the sun and fruit tree.
STEP 4: Assemble the background
Select the background colour of choice and then trace the grass patterns in 3 different shades of green in various sizes.
Glue the grass onto the background paper, doing your best to align the edges of the grass to the edges of the paper.
Next, glue down the other grass patterns on top of the one you just laid down.
STEP 5: Glue everything together
To finish up your farm animal craft, place the other shapes and characters between the grass layers. You can either glue the animals on to make a cute farm animal craft or leave them loose so they can be moved around.
If you want to use this farm animal craft as an aid for the nursery rhyme Old Mac Donald I would suggest leaving the animals loose and adding a new animal to the farm scene each time a new animal is introduced in the nursery rhyme. You could even laminate the animals and background and add velcro to both the back of the animals and the front of the farmyard scene so your farm animal craft will be more robust.
Have fun crafting and playing!
