Children can spend hours playing with this eye-catching slime, stretching and squishing it until their heart's content. This gold, bright green and shiny purple slime are just so inviting!
Gold, green and purple are the official Mardi Gras colours. Gold represents power, purple represents justice and green represents faith.
To add a bit of extra fun we have added small plastic babies to our Mardi Gras slime sensory play. Traditionally these tiny plastic babies are hidden in the king cake eaten during Mardi Gras celebrations. Whoever finds the baby in their slice of cake is said to have good luck.
Mardi Gras Slime
Mardi Gras Slime Ingredients:
- 1 (6 ounce) bottle Elmer's glitter glue in each colour: purple, gold, green
- About ½ cup warm water, for each batch
- ½ teaspoon baking soda, for each batch
- 1 tablespoon contact lens solution (containing boric acid), for each batch
- Plastic babies or foil confetti (if desired)
How To Make your Mardi Gras Slime
STEP 1: Get the glue ready
You will make three separate batches of slime, a green batch, a gold batch and a purple batch. Make one slime at a time. Choose your first colour and empty the glitter glue into a large bowl.
STEP 2: Mix the glue and water
Fill the empty glue bottle about ⅓ full with warm water (about ¼ cup) and seal with the lid. Shake well to combine the remaining glue with the water. Pour the mixture into the bowl with the glue and stir to combine.
STEP 3: Start adding the baking soda
Add the baking soda to the glue and stir to mix thoroughly.
STEP 4: Now it's the time to add glitter or confetti!
If you are adding additional glitter or confetti, stir it into the glue mixture.
STEP 5: Add the magic ingredient...
Add the contact lens solution to the glue mixture and stir well.
(Note: regular glue will require less contact lens solution than glitter glue. Add the contact lens solution slowly, mixing between additions, and add only enough to bring the glue together into a soft ball.)

STEP 6: Knead your new slime to bring it together
Remove the slime from the bowl allowing any excess liquid to remain in the bowl. The slime will be sticky. Begin to play with the slime, kneading it as you would bread dough, to bring the slime together. The slime is ready when no longer sticky.
Repeat for the other two colours.

STEP 7: Store your new slime
If you want to keep your slime to reuse another day store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator when not in use.
