Paper plate crafts are always fun to make. I love how budget-friendly and frugal it is to make crafts and keep the kids happy while upcycling things we already have at home.
And this fish craft hits the mark! The colourful cupcake wrappers also add something extra and make an interesting design.
How much fun would it be to make a colourful fish after reading the book, 'The Rainbow Fish' by Marcus Pfister with your little ones. If you don't have the book scroll down to a link of a youtube video.

How to make your own Fish Paper Plate Craft
STEP 1: Flatten your cupcake wrappers.
Start by taking your cupcake wrappers, flatten them first, then cut them in half with scissors. Set them aside.
STEP 2: Cut paper plate.
Using your scissors, start cutting a small wedge out of your paper plate. Once you've cut it out, discard it.
STEP 3: Work on your larger cupcake wrapper.
Take your large cupcake wrapper and fold it in half twice, then attach it to the end of the paper plate with a bit of glue. This will be the fish's tail.
STEP 4: Give your fish some scales
Take all the mini cupcake wrappers from the first step and glue them along the side of the paper plate, one row of each colour. These will be the fish's fins.
And your fish craft is completed! Easy-peasy, I know! Younger children may need a little help, but this craft is brilliant for developing cutting skills.
Don't feel you have to keep all your scales in rows either. You could add the different colours randomly on your fish to create a cool multicoloured rainbow fish.
If you don't have 'The Rainbow Fish' book and you would like to make this fish craft alongside reading the book take a look at the youtube video below.
