Homemade Glow In The Dark Paint Recipe
STEP 1: Grab your supplies:
First things first! To start making this awesome glow in the dark paint, you first need to gather all your supplies and have them ready to go. We're dealing with pigments and paint, so be sure to cover the surface you'll be working on.
STEP 2: Mix your paint!
Take your pigment powder and put it in a container. Then, take your paint and slowly start adding it to the container while you mix everything together. Add more paint if you want your paint to have a thinner consistency.
PRO TIPS:
You could eye-ball it but to make things easier and more precise, I recommend going for the 1:2 ration when making your paint. So, one part of powder to two parts of paint. Remember that the more powder you use the thicker the paint will get!
STEP 3: Time to paint
Use your newly made glow in the dark paint to get creative! Paint anything that takes your fancy; pretty flowers, a space rocket or crazy patterns, anything goes! Leave your painting to dry.
STEP 4: Activate the glow!
This last step is where all the magic happens! You need to charge your paint so it glows in the dark. I used a daylight flashlight to charge mine, but you can use any sort of daylight and the longer you keep it exposed to the light source, the longer the glow will last!
Once this step is completed, you're done! Now it is time to take your painting into the dark.
A great thing I love about this glow in the dark paint recipe is that you don't need special black lights to see the bright glow of your paint, just a dark room will do the trick.
It is hard to photograph the glow but it has a bright and colourful glow. My kids were so excited once we charged the paint and tried it out in the dark!
