The Very Hungry Caterpillar Puppet Craft

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Puppet Craft - List of Supplies:

• Coloured craft papers
• Craft glue
• Popsicle stick
• Sharpie
• Pencil
• Scissors

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Puppet Craft - Instructions:

STEP 1: Prepare template.

Start by taking your coloured paper and trace each shape from our free caterpillar template. Remember to pick purple, yellow, red and brown paper and at least two different shades of green. For the fruit pick any coloured paper you want!

STEP 2: Put together the face.

Take your red cutout circle and add the antenna, mouth and eyes onto it. 

STEP 3: Create the body.

Glue all the green circle cutouts in a row, making sure to form a curved line with the circles.

STEP 4: Add the legs.

Once you are done gluing all the circles in a row, start by adding the legs on the bottom part of the circles.

STEP 5: Make it a bit stronger.

If you want to make this cute caterpillar craft a bit more sturdy, you could attach a piece of card to the back just like I did.

STEP 6: Add the popsicle sticks.

As a final step, glue the caterpillar to a popsicle stick, and... Your very hungry caterpillar puppet is done! 

Now you just need to trace, cut out and glue the fruit shapes from the template in the same way we did the caterpillar and then attach them to popsicle sticks. 

We love this story at home! It teaches little ones about the days of the week, the butterfly life cycle and names of fruit amongst other things. The Very Hungry Caterpillar is an entertaining story book for young children with striking illustrations. This much loved story will catch your kid’s attention and our caterpillar craft is a perfect addition to follow along!
