Orange Bird Feeder - Instructions:
STEP 1: Prep-Time
Gather all the supplies you'll need for this bird feeder, and let's begin! Take a knife and cut each orange in half, horizontally. Then, take out the pulp with a spoon and set aside.
STEP 2: Start making your birdseed treat
Boil 1 cup of water and once it is boiling, add the gelatine and mix until the gelatine dissolves completely.
SAFETY WARNING: Make sure an adult does this step if making these orange bird feeders with young children.
STEP 3: Mix all the ingredients
Measure 1 cup of birdseed and add it to the water and gelatine mixture. Stir well.
STEP 4: Put everything together
Now it's time to fill up your oranges! Take the oranges you emptied in the first step and fill them up with the birdseed and gelatine mixture. Pop them in the fridge for about one hour; the mixture should be firm by then.
While the gelatine sets, take your string or twine and cut a piece of it depending on the hanging length you need.
STEP 5: Finishing touches
Make a hole through the middle of the orange using a straw and add your string through the hole, making a knot at the end to secure everything.
Kids will love spending time outside making this homemade bird feeder, and you can even use this DIY project to teach them about birds, their migration patterns, and what type of food they like to eat. We hope you and your little ones enjoy making this orange bird feeder project!
