Homemade Gingerbread Playdough Recipe For Kids
Gingerbread playdough - Supplies:
- 1 cup salt
- 2 cups water
- 4 tablespoons oil
- 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 2 cups flour
Gingerbread playdough recipe - Directions:
STEP 1: Prepare your ingredients.
Gather all the ingredients listed above!
Start by mixing the water with the salt, oil, cream of tartar, cinnamon, and ginger in a saucepan.
Cook this mixture over a medium heat level until it reaches boiling point.
STEP 2: Mix & Mix!
When the mixture it's boiling, lower the heat and add the flour as you stir quickly. Continue to beating the mixture until you see the dough pulling away from the saucepan, forming a ball.
If you see small chunks of flour, don't worry! We'll take care of that in the next few steps.
STEP 3: Let it cool.
Take the saucepan away from the heat and put the dough onto a wax sheet to cool for a few minutes.
STEP 4: Knead time!
Once the gingerbread playdough has cooled a little and it's not too hot to the touch, it's time to knead! Invite the kids if you want them involved; they'll be delighted!
Roll and knead until you see all those little flour lumps blend into the playdough.
STEP 5: Store it.
Before playing with this gingerbread playdough, store it in an airtight plastic bag and pop it into the refrigerator for a little while, so it has time to cool down and improve the texture.
