This craft, inspired by cute polar bears, is the perfect activity to make with your little ones this winter. They will have tons of fun and enjoy getting creative!

Great for toddlers and pre-schoolers as well as big kids, this Polar Bear Craft is a creative activity made from just paper and paint that can be made at home or school! You don't need to spend big bucks on supplies, which is a big plus in my book.

Using potatoes, markers, a cute pair of googly eyes, and some other basic supplies, we're sharing how to make this adorable arctic polar bear craft.

Polar Bear Craft - Supplies:

  • Polar Bear Template
  • Potato
  • Blue cardstock
  • White paper
  • White acrylic paint
  • Googly eyes, small
  • Markers - black, white
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Polar Bear Craft - Directions:

STEP 1: Download & Print template.

Let's begin! Scroll down and grab a copy of our polar bear template. Then, print it out on white paper.

STEP 2: Make a rectangle of white paper.

Now, take the white paper and cut out a rectangular strip. When you cut the top edge, make it slightly wavy. This will create the snow at the bottom of your polar bear craft. Glue the strip to the very bottom of your blue cardstock.

STEP 3: Prepare your potato.

Now, grab your potato! I recommend using a medium-size one; it works best for this craft. Once you have it ready, cut it lengthwise.

For younger children you might want to cut a handle into the potato to make it easier for them to hold or alternatively you could stick a fork into the top of the potato for them to hold onto.

STEP 4: Dip your paint.

Take a paper plate or any surface you don't mind getting paint on and spread the white acrylic paint on it. Now, take the potato and dip it in the paint, making sure your potato is totally coated.

STEP 5: Press and Print!

This is the fun part for little ones! Take the blue cardstock and press down the potato onto it, just above the white strip. Remove the potato with care. This will create your polar bears body.

STEP 6: Put the polar bear pieces together.

Now, cut out all the pieces from the polar bear template. Use a black marker to draw in the eyes and nose and a few lines on the bear's paws.

Using glue, attach the paws to the bottom of the potato print.  Glue the ears to the back of the face and then glue the head onto your polar bear.

Time to wrap up this polar bear craft! Add the final touch by drawing some cute snowflakes falling around your bear with a white marker.
