How to mix skin color paint + printable skin color mixing chart
How to make skin tone paint - Supplies:
- Paint Tone Grid printed on white cardstock
- Paint in yellow, orange, red, brown, black, and white
- Cotton swabs or paint brush
How to mix skin color - Directions:
STEP 1: Prep-time!
To begin this color mixing activity, make sure you have all your supplies within reach. We'll use paint in the colors; yellow, orange, red, brown, black, and white. You can make every skin shade by using these 6 colors!
Don't forget to download our printable skin paint tone grid (you'll find it at the bottom of this post) and print it out on white cardstock.
STEP 2: Prepare the paint.
Using paper plates or any other item you can put paint on, prepare your color palette. Squirt out a small amount of each of the 6 colors.
Place a dot of the designated color inside every square on the grid and gently mix them together inside each square.
EXTRA TIPS:
When you add black paint, try to use a small amount at first. If you put too much, the resulting skin tone shade can be too dark to see the difference with the other darker shades.
On the other hand, when you add white, you can try to add an extra drop to get a lighter fair skin tone.
