How to Make Your Own Dinosaur Scratch Art:
STEP 1: Trace and cut out the dinosaur template
Start by downloading our dinosaur template, print it out and then cutout the pieces. Trace each shape onto the cardboard and then cut out the cardboard shapes.
STEP 2: Colour the cardboard
Take your crayons and colour all the pieces of cardboard. Press hard and make sure the cardboard is completely covered. Use a variety of different colours, colouring sections in each colour for more vibrant dinosaurs!
Take your dish soap and mix 1 drop with 3 drops of black paint. Paint over the entire dinosaur's shape, making sure to cover all the areas you coloured with crayons. Let the black paint dry completely and your scratch art cardboard is ready to be used.
STEP 4: Scratch the black paint away
Take a tooth pick, or find something pointy to scratch the designs into your scratch art cardboard, but make sure it's safe for little ones to use.
Use the sharp object to scratch patterns and shapes into the black paint. As you do this you will see the bright colours that you used to colour your cardboard revealed.
STEP 5: Put the dinosaur together
Put the scratch art pieces together to make your dinosaurs and secure them with a bit of glue. Grab your colored paper and cut spikes, then glue them onto the backs of each dinosaur. Use the image below as a guide. Leave the glue to dry and your DIY scratch art dinosaurs are all ready to play with!
