Spring Sensory Bin - Directions:

STEP 1: Print, cut and laminate the spring sensory bin printables.

At the bottom of the page, you will find a link to our spring-themed sensory bin printables. Print them out. Cut out one complete set of the images (as shown below) whilst also keeping a page showing all 6 images.  I would recommend laminating them so they are strong enough for little hands and they last a long time!

STEP 2: Set up your spring sensory bin.

Take your small tray and fill it up with the green shredded paper. Then, incorporate your spring-themed items.

We placed fake flowers on top of the shredded paper and then added birds, bird's nests and feathers. We also added some small white pom poms to represent eggs. We placed a wooden rainbow next to the tray.

Use whatever you have available to you to create your spring sensory bin, there is no right or wrong way to set it up. Real flowers could work instead of fake flowers and butterflies could replace birds.

Add tweezers or other fine motor tools; this way, your child can move the items around the sensory bin whilst developing their fine motor skills.

Take the cut-out spring printables and lay them on top of your sensory bin, hiding them slightly in the shredded paper.

STEP 3: Playtime!

Encourage toddlers and preschoolers to use tweezers or other fine motor tools to find and pick up the spring-themed printables.

As they find the spring-themed printables in the sensory bin see if they can match the images to the corresponding ones on the spring sheet.

Encourage little ones to play with the shredded paper, the birds, flowers, and any other spring item you've included. Have fun making the birds fly or hiding the flowers under the shredded paper before making them 'grow".

See if you can collect up all the bird's eggs using fine motor tools. How many eggs are there?

Ollie (aged 3) especially enjoyed using the wooden rainbow as part of his play. He had fun balancing the birds on top!
