Fourth of July craft directions
STEP ONE: Gather up your supplies
To get started with your 4th of July craft, make sure you have all the supplies you need. If you haven't already downloaded & printed your free star template, make sure to grab that below. Once you have everything you need, it's time to get started making your star people!
STEP TWO: Prepare the template
First, cut out the pieces from the free star template and start by tracing and cutting out the star piece on red cardstock.
STEP THREE: Create the star people
Next, lay down the star with one of the points at the top and two points at the bottom, as shown below. It's time to decorate!
Cut out thin strips of blue and white cardstock and glue them down onto the star. Don't worry about making them the right length as you'll trim them after gluing.
Remember to have fun with it! You can lay down your strips in whatever way you'd like to create a fun look to them.
Trim off any excess and you're ready to make the faces!
Glue on the googly eyes & draw a mouth with sharpie. Now, you're ready to move onto the next step!
STEP FOUR: Create the hat and flag
Now it's time to make the hat and flag for your star people! Trace the hat onto your desired coloured cardstock and decorate. You can cut out strips, use a star hole punch, or get some additional supplies to make your own design. Whatever you choose! Start with laying everything down to make sure you're happy with it before glueing it into place.
Next, cut out a square shape on white paper and a strip of cardstock in your desired colour for the flag pole. Use markers to design the flag as shown below.
Once you're happy with how everything looks, glue the flag to the flagpole strip.
STEP FIVE: Finalise fourth of July craft
Once you've finished your pieces, it's time to add the final details! Glue the hats to the top of your star people and glue the flags in place to appear as though they're holding them. You're all finished!
